Birthday of our hundred-year lady. Congratulation-letter and gift of money of our Fuehrer. Our 100-year-old fellow citizen, widow Luise Steinmetz, was honoured extremely richly today. At 10 o'clock appeared in her flat in the ÒNeuen SteinwegÓ the leader of the district committee, Wei§, Mayor Dr. Beuermann, and the leader of the local branch [NSDAP], Hasskarl, and transmitted the congratulations of the party [NSDAP], of the state and the town to her. Mayor Dr. Beuermann emphasized, that it a joy is for our town, that Luise Steinmetz celebrates their 100th birthday, and that the whole population has sympathy at this event. Mr Wei§ donated a wonderful chrysanthemum flower arrangement as gift of the town. The Mayor [gave her] a splendid flower basket with cyclamens. During the celebration the birthday girl reached the honour of the Fuehrer and German Chancellor, Adolf Hitler. The Fuehrer has transmitted a personal handwritten letter and a gift of money of 200 Reichsmark. The leader of the district, Wei§, opened the congratulation-card and reads it for the 100-year birthday lady. She was particularly honoured and she got up from her chair. She then expressed loudly and considerably her joy and gratitude for this honour. Later the "SturmbannfŸhrer" and lawyer Dr. Bohrmann came from the city of Kassel with the representative of the local branch, Zeuch. They brought the congratulations of the "Family League of the many children". And he presented a picture of the Fuehrer, a bunch of flowers and a gift of money. Two clergymen, Fritz Koch and Adolf Beissert, of the AltstŠdter church parish appeared in the society toward 11 o'clock. Parish priest Wepler stressed in his speech to Mrs Steinmetz that the wish of the family has fulfilled himself to be able to celebrate the 100th birthday of the mother. He put the celebration for the mother under the psalm word "118 B 24": ÒThis is the day, which has made God. We are about this glad and happyÓ. He described the mother as a religious woman. She had always talked about the fact in the religious confidence in God at earlier birthdays that she still would like to experience this day. However, she has added: ÒIf God wantsÓ. And God had been with her. Hans Hess spoke for the many family relatives words of the admiration for the old mother. It was also a great delight for her that her native town Waldkappel remembered. Parish priest Ferreau brought of the Waldkappeler parish the congratulations and presented of the Waldkappeler church a picture as gift. Mrs Steinmetz was baptized and her confirmation was here. The secretary of the National Railways, Ewick, brings greetings and congratulations of the town Waldkappel of the mayor from Waldkappel. He then presented a picture of the city of Waldkappel.
